Osprey Initiative to host recycling efforts during Love the Boot Week 2025

BATON ROUGE, La. (KNOE) – Keep Louisiana Beautiful is partnering with Coca-Cola to recycle plastic bottles and aluminum cans during Love the Boot Week 2025.

Love the Boot Week, held annually in April, is Louisiana’s largest litter removal and beautification effort. This year, KLB and Coca-Cola are celebrating the week by making recycling litter easier.

The Osprey Initiative, an organization focused on solving the global litter problem with sustainable technology, will facilitate recycling efforts in 27 parishes.

Those 27 parishes include: Acadia, Ascension, Bossier, Caddo, Calcasieu, DeSoto, East Baton Rouge, Evangeline, Grant, Iberia, Jefferson, Lafayette, Livingston, Orleans, Ouachita, Plaquemines, Rapides, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, and Vermillion.

“When items are properly recycled, they don’t end up littering our environment or entering our landfills,” said Susan Russell, KLB Executive Director. “Not only does recycling reduce waste, but it also requires less energy to use recovered materials when making products in comparison to virgin materials.”

The Osprey Initiative’s recycling efforts will include pick-up and drop-off services.

There will be 21 Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development offices designated as drop-off locations during Love the Boot Week.

Every person in all 64 Louisiana parishes can register for a cleanup or beautification event and/or sign up to volunteer for Love the Boot Week at LoveTheBoot.org.
