Osprey partners to serve in MLK Day of Service

After: MLK Day of Service 2020
Part of the trash and recycling gathered by volunteers and the Osprey Initiative team in 2020.

Osprey Initiative is proud to serve again as a sponsor for the MLK Day of Service on Saturday, January 16, 2021. This event is spearheaded by Mobile United’s Natural Resources Committee. Once again, efforts will be focused on cleaning up Eslava Creek – an area where Osprey maintains two Litter Gitters throughout the year. This year requires an extra step to keep everyone safe, and the organizers are sure to be COVID-conscious in order to protect participants during this outdoor event. This day of service is a FREE event and open to anyone who wishes to serve in the Mobile-area community. Registration is highly encouraged in order to limit contact on the day of the event. Participants can register online here. To check-in on the day of the event, please report to a site of your choice (sites are listed below). A check-in tent and site captain will be at each location. What We Offer

The patented Litter Gitter is a tactical in-stream litter collection device used to intercept floating litter from stormwater runoff. The Osprey team handles all aspects of installing and maintaining these “trash traps” and compiles data on the items caught in them, recycling as much of the litter as possible.
