// Our Mission

Turning Environmental Promises Into
Practical Solutions

OUR MISSION is to bridge the gap between intent and action in the sustainability world by bringing and implementing realistic solutions to our clients, partners and communities.

We don’t just collect litter, we use patented technology to collect data to determine sources and solutions.

Our Vision

// To be the worldwide leader in providing solutions in reducing humanity’s impact on the environment.

waterway polluted with trash

EVERY YEAR, billions of pounds of trash become marine debris, which pollutes our waterways and oceans. Plastics in the aquatic environment are persistent and have a negative effect on the environment, wildlife, and human health.

THE TRADITIONAL APPROACH is insufficient to adequately address the formidable global challenges of litter in our waterways.

// Collaboration = Success

Community Partnership

Within the communities that we serve, Osprey Initiative strongly prioritizes partnerships and collaboration. We strive to engage with established groups already working in the area, who have an amazing depth of watershed knowledge. Recruiting local labor allows us to support the economy at each of our project sites. This focus, along with many other factors, leads to successful long-term projects.

// Empowering Individuals

People Engaged

At Osprey Initiative, we believe in the transformative power of education. Our ultimate goal is to engage with all communities on the critical issue of litter and its impact on their environment. First and foremost, we do this by tailoring our educational materials to resonate with specific watersheds, fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility among residents.

By empowering individuals with knowledge about how litter affects their immediate surroundings, we can instill a shared commitment to environmental stewardship.
Our outreach activities range from informal shoreline chats during volunteer cleanups to in depth classroom sessions. We also use our social media platforms to reach new audiences.

Underserved Communities

Access to nature should not be a luxury, but it can feel that way when natural resources, such as blueways and greenways, are not properly cared for. At Osprey Initiative, our team believes that all communities should be able to enjoy nature as part of their everyday lives, not a distant destination. To make this possible, people must be able to experience the outdoors in their own backyards.

This is why Osprey Initiative prioritizes partnerships ununderserved communities, with a goal that over 50% of the total communities we serve meet our criteria for underserved status. Through impactful experiences with nature, we believe that individuals will be motivated to become environmentally conscious within their own neighborhoods and better care for their immediate surroundings.

EPA EJ

Osprey Initiative uses two nationally recognized tools to assess whether an area is considered underserved: the EPA EJScreen and the Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool (CEJST). These tools use a variety of metrics to determine “underserved” status. These include income, housing, health, transportation, linguistic isolation, and many more.
