HAMMOND — Air Products, through the Air Products Lake Maurepas Community Fund, has donated $50,000 to the Tangipahoa Economic Development Foundation (TEDF) to support litter abatement efforts that align with the organization’s mission of attracting growth and investment in Tangipahoa Parish.
The grant will help TEDF operate and maintain “litter gitter” devices in waterways around Lake Maurepas, which capture trash and debris before it can flow into the lake. These efforts are carried out in partnership with the Osprey Initiative and help address persistent litter challenges that can impact the parish’s appearance, environmental health, and long-term economic development.
“Keeping our parish clean and attractive is essential to economic growth,” said Ginger Cangelosi, Executive Director of the Tangipahoa Economic Development Foundation. “Support from Air Products allows us to continue this important work through our Keep Tangipahoa Beautiful Program. It’s important to take care of Lake Maurepas and this work reinforces the connection between Tangipahoa’s quality of life, environmental stewardship, and economic opportunity.”
This donation builds on Air Products’ prior support for the Tangipahoa Economic Development Foundation’s litter abatement and beautification initiatives, including a $160,000 contribution in 2024 that supported similar efforts across the parish.
“Removing litter from our waterways is important to both beautify our environment and protect our communities from flooding. Air Products is proud to continue its support of these efforts in Tangipahoa Parish,” said Danna Leblanc, Commercial Executive Director of Air Products’ Louisiana Clean Energy Complex.
“Osprey began our work in Louisiana in Tangipahoa Parish over five years ago. The litter gitter program is most effective when organizations come together with a shared commitment to protecting our waterways,” said Don Bates, Owner/President of the Osprey Initiative. “Support from partners like Air Products allows us to maintain these systems around Lake Maurepas and continue addressing litter challenges that affect the surrounding communities.”
